Is it a curse??

Introduction

To celebrate the bicentennial it could be possibly one of the most important celebrations for a country. It supposes to be a year with a lot of reconciliation and peace that will unify the people. You could feel the happiness in the air and also you could see everyone preparing the way that they are going to celebrate the independence of their respective country.

In the case of our country, Chile, it was a totally different bicentennial. No one ever thought that in this year a series of tragedies would hit our country.

The story of the 2010 in Chile starts on February 27th with a big earthquake in the central zone. The epicentre was near Cobquecura and Curanipe. But that wasn’t all. This tragedy came with a Tsunami that made things worse. A lot of people became homeless and their relatives died on this tragic event. The final count says that we have 521 dead and 2 millions homeless.

There was no time to recover from the earthquake when 33 Chileans were trapped deep underground in northern Chile. They were miners working in San Jose mine located in Copiapo. The accident happened on 5th of August in 2010. All around the world people were discussing this incident. After two months six rescuers sent down to assist the miners. The rescued miners have been taken to hospital. All have severe dental infections, and some have eye problems. This accident touched the heart of all Chilean people, but on August 22th everybody could say “Mission completed”.

After this happy ending a new accident affected us. This time the protagonist was

Tur-bus agency. The bus was going to Santiago from San Antonio. The terrible accident left 20 dead and about 10 injuries.

Could anything else happen to Chilean people? The answer is yes. Everybody cold watch on the television the main story “Big fire on San Miguel prison”. This time the victims were 83 dead and 14 injuries affected by the big fire on December 10^th.

This last accident made controversy, that’s why it was different from the other tragedies. There are persons who think they deserved it, of course, they are criminals but it isn’t relevant, is it? They are persons and they have family and there are moms and wives crying for them.

Conclusion

Naturally you could see this isn’t a good year at all. It was exactly the opposite. Instead of happiness, a lot of tears were around us. But if you put it in a balance you will see the positive side of this. Everyone Chilean could see the precarious conditions in every place of work. These tragedies happened because they lived and work in the worst conditions. People lost their houses on February 27^th because they weren’t strong enough. In San Miguel jail there were a lot of prisoners and about 4 police men and they couldn’t save all of them. So, we have to make a reflection, especially the government because they have the tools to make this country a better place for all of us.

There are persons who say that all these tragic events have one guilty, Sebastian Piñera, our president. But there is a little story related with this. People say that

 Every century we will have problems like these, it’s like a curse. When the president lets the badge fall down he will have a difficult presidency. It could be. It’s maybe the only explication for to many accidents. But I think we only have to wait to see what about the next year.

Thesis?? Confusion!

 Hi  everyone!

I have to tell you about my thesis. Of course I haven’t started yet! I didn’t even know the topic  that I’m going to choose, But I would like to do it about something related to ecology or conservation of our native forest.I will love to mix forest and animals  and do something new about it. I would like to do something to help the environment in someway or maybe a new discover ! and where?? Well, wherever  but not in an office! I want to look, to observe, to learn in the middle of the forest and nature! The time that I will spend on it  It doesn’t really matter to me!.

 It’s really difficult to talk about my thesis because I’m only on my second year in this career, so I think I have so much to learn about forestry! And maybe I will change my mind because I’m going to keep on learning new things and new areas that I don’t now yet! But what I do know and what I’ll never get out of my mind it’s that I don’t want to cut a tree if it depends on me.

Our people! :)

Hello people!

The issue for today is very interesting, but not just for me. I think everybody must be interested in conflicts like the one we have nowadays, I’m talking about “The Mapuche conflict”. Maybe they don’t have the best ways to claim for their rights but I think is the only one, because nobody really listens to them. Perhaps they act like that because they feel that Chilean people don’t care about them and somehow it’s true. I feel really bad about them,  I think we own them so much!! They are our people! They gave everything to protect this land, our country, and now there are persons that hardly talk to them! I think that can’t happen, we are something like a country without memories! We only remember the best moments but not the bad ones. We need to give them the place they deserved .Nowadays if you are lucky you can find a kid who could tell about the mapuches. That’s exactly the place where we have to start to change this conflict.

Maybe in schools they could teach the mapuche language., a specially subject for our people, about one hour once a week. Mapuche people will appreciate it. I remember when I was a kid, in school  my teacher in history taught me some words that I still remember. We all have to put  a grain to change this situation.

It's great to be GREEN!

Hi everyone!

Today I’m going to write about environment, this is a topic that I really love to talk about. I think that people finally have come to realize how important is to protect our planet and that is something that makes me very happy . As Michael Jackson once said: We must “Heal the world”.

Nowadays , we can see how have been created  so many organizations related with environmentally friendly practices. There are groups which work with animals and all the necessary things for them, even demanding their rights.Also we have groups which defends the sea  or  other ones against Pascua Lama project and hydroelectric . I think it is so important that people take conscience about what is happening in our country because the press is so manipulated by the government, they show us what they want us to see and what is the best for them. They don’t really care about our biodiversity  so they won’t tell us about important topics related with the environment. If you ask to people how they get information about what’s happening in Punta de Choros, they will say they saw groups or pictures , but is so strange to see those kind of things on T.V…but it doesn’t matter… everywhere you can find somebody  green!

The last years I tried to have a “Green house”. We try not to use a lot of water, when we go to buy a few things we never ask for a plastic bag. The oil it’s always in a bottle because one oil drop contaminates liters of water. We try to buy organic vegetables and the ones which are from the zone and finally I’m a vegetarian so that’s a huge help for our planet, of course from my point of view and according to my philosophy of how to live in peace with the world and every creature.

Forestry news!

Hello everyone!

Today we have to talk about news related with our career, but I found two news that I think are important for our country. The first one tells us about a big forest fire in the south of Chile. The deplorable event happened on April 6 in the city of Bío-Bío. It was an area of native forest , plantations and flieds. You can see the picture of the smoke cloud in the next link:

The second one talks about a law project that the government is trying to approve. They want to privatize native seeds and liberate transgenic vegetables.  Environmentalist groups are protesting against this new law because it will be tragic for organic agriculture, it will put it in danger and it will produce genetic pollution. The main reason of this emergency in Latin America it’s because in Europe all this transgenic products are prohibited. Because they are protecting the people’s health and the environment.

Every native seed belong to us. To Chilean people and this new law will make that the seeds have an owner and they will have the right to do wherever they want with  our patrimony. If you are interested you can read the complete news with the next link.

The famous 33!

Hello everyone!

I hope you are doing well! Today I am going to write about one of the most important news of the year! of course, from my point of view, but why do I say this? Because all around the world are talking about this particular group of 33 miners, who are very organized, and after seventeen days without food or any water they were found alive! Even when everybody had lost the hope .There were not injuries, not even someone with a disease caused by the accident. They were fine and they told to the world by a paper which said : “We are fine, in the shelter, the thirty three”. All the world was moved by those words. It is so strange how can you get sad and to be moved at the point  you start to cry because a story like this. It is a mixture of feelings, it gets me very upset, it annoys me… things like this can never happen again. I think that it could help to the government to open his eyes and see the problems that the working-class has to face up everyday and they don’t have the opportunity to complain about their situation because unfortunately nobody listen to them and they are forced to go back to work everyday just because they need the many for their families, I think the important people get advantage from this and that is why they do nothing to make things better for their workers. I just want the government do something  at last! And the media stops to be benefit by the miners’ image .

Bicentennial !

Hello!

Of course this bicentennial it is an amazing time because you can see everybody so happy! A lot of people in the street with flags feeling so much love for their country, that’s the most emotive thing, because you can breathe that happiness in the air and at the next second you are feeling the same way. Also it gets the family together and you have finally a few days to share with them. There are typical activities and Chilean games , so it is impossible to get bore.

That is the good part from my point of view because on the other side I feel really really sad.. do you want to know why?? Ok…It’s because in this days people eat a lot of meat, and how you already know I am a vegetarian so this it’s definitely the worst month of the year to me. But the thing that gets me very angry it’s rodeo because no matter how hard I try I can’t see how can that be funny for people, of course it’s not a game and not even close to be a sport..how could be a sport to see a human being use a horse to hurt and harm other animal?? No… in that case I’d rather stay at home. Also I dislike circus with animals…oh that’s  awful, savage animals taken like dogs or cats and see how a man wants to mock of them mmm..that’s not the kind of respect I expect from human beings. But how I said at the beginning it’s mypoint of view, I hope ou don’t get it in the wrong way.

Favorite country!

Hello!

Actually is difficult for me to choose just one country that I like most, but there are two of them that I have to visit whatever it takes before I die. The first one is Greece, there are a lot of reasons but the most important is because my family, I’m Greek descendant and that’s why I will love to visit it. I think Greece is a country with so much influence in the rest of Europe even in the rest of the world. Our history is based on its culture , which, by the way, is just an amazing thing .So many important philosophers are from Greece. It’s such a cultural country where you will never stop to learn new things about it.

Also I can forget my other favorite country in the world, Egypt, if you ask me why do I love this country I could not tell you, because even I don’t know why. When I began to learn about Egypt I felt I little connection, things that I like and they also like it. So every time I can, I buy books about Egypt, I search on internet “freak information” everything I find is useful for me.

I can wait to see your favorites countries!

First term of 2010!

Hi people!
I will tell you about my first term of the year. Unfortunally I didn't have time for the things that I really love like sports or free time activities. That made me very sad because  I had to push away the things that keep me with energy and happy. I'm always doing a lot of different things but not this time, just one thing I could do, something that I never thought I will do this year, I learned how to do Reiki and i couldn't ask for nothing else. All this is on the positive things because if we talk about challenges oh god! I had to face a lot of them, it's something really personal so I'm not going to describe them  I will just say that the things are going well now, that's the important thing! so we could said i won! because I learned so much things about life, in a bad way of course but i wouldn't change it.
About my friends! oh how I love them! this year I had the chance to met new people! great people that aare helping me to deal all the things that I am passing for, even when they are so different between them!.
So, if i put all this in a scales i will find that my year haven't been so bad!  and I apreciate everything that happened in my life!

The Things that i love! =)

Hi everyone! I'd like to tell you about the things that I like and that I love to do in my freetime and I want you to do the same ,so we can know each other  more deeply.
I'd like to write about music, it's something so typical but so important at the same time. I'd like to know the kind of music do you like most and why. Also your favorite singer or group and if you play any instrument.
As a personal topic I'd like to talk about the reasons I'm a vegetarian because so many people don't understand it and  they only critize my point of view without even listen to me. I think we can write about our hobbies or any crazy thing that you ever did.
